These proposed new treatments are for many diverse medical problems and may include new drugs or medical equipment.

For our Spanish speaking patients, and those Spanish speaking non-patients, interested in possibly participating in a clinical trial are welcome and encouraged to contact us about applying to be in a trial. We have a Spanish speaking coordinator available to assist in completing the necessary forms and to answer any questions.

Prior to a pharmaceutical company initiating a clinical trial (testing in humans), the company must conduct extensive preclinical or laboratory research. The research typically involves years of experiments using animal and human cells. The testing also can involve animals.

If this testing is successful, the pharmaceutical company provides the results to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), requesting approval to begin testing in humans. It is only with FDA approval can any human testing be done. All results of the tests are submitted to the FDA for review and then possible approval for widespread use.
